I was raised in a spiritual and artistic family that is very connected to nature. I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with animals. I have worked on a variety of projects working with eel grass in Humboldt Bay to working with rescued deer, foxes, and owls. I am a current PhD Candidate at Northeastern University in Marine and Environmental Sciences.
I also prioritize art and community. I create functional wheel thrown ceramics that are often nature themed. I take underwater photographs through scuba diving and microscopy, and recently I began teaching algae pressing techniques to preserve and celebrate nature through the connection of art and science.
I began doing ocean field research in 2013 during my Invertebrate Zoology Course. I learned how to conduct different field techniques, navigating the rocky intertidal, and species biodiversity. Since then, I have spent at least ten days in the intertidal every single year.
